SLOW

By Sara, 18 Nov 2019

Feeling a little overwhelmed with so much to do, I decided to put everything aside to worship God, something I know I absolutely need in times like this.

A little while into the worship, I sensed a heavy spirit of boredom. I asked the Lord, “Is this the reason for this restlessness, numbness and callousness I am sensing in the world today?”

He showed me this word:

“SLOW”

I kind of understood.

The world today is dominated by the fast and the instant:

Fast fashion

Fast food

Instant gratification

Instant messaging

Instant gaming

Instant answers

Then God said again to me, “SLOW” -

Like how you like your coffee – ground from fresh beans, savoring its sweet aroma, as it slowly brews...

LIKE HOW YOU LIKE YOUR COFFEE - GROUND FROM FRESH BEANS, SAVORING ITS SWEET AROMA, AS IT SLOWLY BREWS.....

Start with your mobile phone,

Take pictures with a camera, not your phone.

Watch the news on the TV or read it from the papers, not from your phone.

Read emails and check Facebook from your computer, not on your phone.

Meet up with friends to play board games, not on the phone.”

Yes, back to slow.

To live life SLOW

To enjoy time slowly

To smell the air

To take slow walks with God

To talk to people

To read a book.

I deleted the Facebook app and the Word with Friends game from my phone.

Yes, back to slow.

Suddenly, the voice of Will Reagan from the worship song playing softly in the background became loud and clear:

I'M NOT IN A HURRY WHEN IT COMES TO OUR SPIRIT

“I'm not in a hurry
When it comes to Your spirit
When it comes to Your presence
When it comes to Your voice
I'm learning to listen
Just to rest in Your nearness
I'm starting to notice
You are speaking

Lord I want to love like You
I want to feel what You feel
I want to see what You see”

(Lyrics from “Not in a Hurry” by Will Reagan, United Pursuit)

After that, the next song came on, “This is How I Fight My Battle”.

THIS IS HOW I FIGHT MY BATTLE

I started to clap slowly and forcefully, smashing the enemy of boredom, restlessness and callousness.

Right after that, I was led into warfare intercession - I slapped the faces of liars who distort truth and try to impose their evil ideologies upon our land. I silenced the voice of the enemy, protecting the eyes and minds of our leaders and our young men and women. I prayed for our nation’s future and our land - for divine protection against lawlessness, immorality and self-destruction.

Then, in the Spirit, I saw angels positioned on the edge of our little island, at the North, the South, the East and the West, and then in between, altogether 8 of them, shooting out arrows, one after another.

The Holy Spirit then said to me, “There is moral bankruptcy in the world, but none of that shall enter your land.”

Thank You Lord, for helping me do what is important to You, not what is demanding my attention.

SLOW.

Yes, slow is good.
